SEVA – HUMANITARIAN SERVICE

Seva is the union of love and action: love in action.

Seva is a sanksrit word meaning selfless service. Generally, to see things clearly we need both our eyes. Through Yoga or union with the Divine, we are connected to our hearts, is said to be like one eye. Dharma, doing good deeds, is said to be like the other eye. When unconditional love and good deeds unite we see clearly, we have love in action.

“To be a good person, you can be an engineer, plumber, carpenter or painter… you can be anything. To do good for the world, you do not need to find a special profession. The only thing you need to know is, “I am here to do good.” You only need this wisdom. You only need the intention “I was born in this world to do good, to create good, to make everyone happy.” Once you have this wisdom, it does not matter who you are or what you are doing, you can bring peace to the world.  – Sakthi Amma

Daniel is a part of Beloved Narayani Australia, which runs a monthly Full Moon Puja in Sydney and Lennox Head as well as food seva, for more info click here.

“People often think service means just doing things with money. But that is not the only service. Whatever you have, you can use for service. Everyone is blessed with different gifts. You know what you are blessed with, so start to give that. When you have wealth, share your wealth. When you have talent, share your talent. Whatever makes others happy. Not just humans, serve nature and all creations.”  Sri Sakthi Amma

“You can never do good deeds if you think of doing them only after fulfilling all your needs. Because the mind with all its desires is like a bottomless vessel. It will never say ‘enough’. Therefore, make doing charity one of the utmost necessities for you.”Sri Sakthi Amma
